Last year, a group of Cebuano manufacturers and designers came together to discuss a possible venture. Composed of Hacienda Crafts, Debbie Palao, Vito Selma, Detalia Aurora and Co-Creative Studio, we all came from different backgrounds, styles, and business views. What we all had in common though was the love of our Natural Material and Filipino Craftsmanship. In coordination with the AFOS foundation, we were able to feature our differences and our similarities with a common objective and reintroduced Filipino design with full transparency to the German market.
We would like to thank everyone behind this project and for giving us the opportunity to be a part of the team.
Special Thanks To:
AFOS, Sabine Voggenreiter, Kei Batiquin, Heimat Design, BMZ and Sequa
The Holistic Coalition of the Willing, or HOLICOW, is a sustainable furniture and housewares company based in Cebu City, Philippines. All our pieces are designed and handcrafted to further our weaving traditions and tropical materials.
OUR STORY pivots on design and sustainability; tradition and modern technique. Every piece communicates the stories of our artisans and our own pursuit of harmony with nature in a way that is honest and genuine.
OUR MISSION is to achieve synchronicity between our products and the environment, and between our members, values, and goals. We are committed to measuring our sustainable practices in detail.
A Road show in Germany
CRAFT ACT is a term that expresses our passion for the value of Philippine design and industrial art. It is not only about the display of our creative products.
The complex technical and social background story of the local initiative called Holicow (Holistic Coalition of the willing), an alliance of local manufacturers and cooperatives of craftsmen in the Visayas, shall also be told through an audio-video presentation. The goal of Holicow: the economic use of indigenous materials to protect the local biosphere.
Beyond this, CRAFT ACT talks about a more complex, inspiring story. Quality of work follows a different perspective and can be seen under its social dimension.
Here is one of the promotional videos showed during the CRAFT ACT road show, featuring Co-Creative Studio and Detalia Aurora.
